What's new in 1.7 Surf mode Riders who surf, prone or SUP get a wave-first app. Today, forecasts, the map and spot cards lead with swell, period and tide, and your session summaries lead with time on the water, distance and pace. It turns on automatically if your sports are only Surf or SUP, and you can switch it any time from your profile or Sport & Map settings. Wave rides Surf, SUP, prone foil and SUP foil sessions now break out every wave you caught: how many, your longest, your fastest, and total distance ridden. Tap any wave on the map or in the list to replay just that ride. Body boarding A new sport, with wave rides included. Parawing stashes On Apple Watch Ultra, press the Action button to mark the start and end of a stash run. Runs show as gold on your track with their own stats, and they appear in your race videos. Garmin riders get the same from imported sessions. Course challenges and race replays Challenge pages are redesigned with dated leaderboards and division tabs. Tap any scored day to watch a kart-style replay. The Today card now plays a playlist of the races you rode and the ones nearest you, and weekly spot arenas start with Kanaha. Compare rides In Analysis, compare your speed across two sections of a ride, or across two different rides. Also Weather maps have brighter, smoother currents and wave-period animation with cleaner controls. New in-app setup guides for Apple Watch and Garmin. Sign-in forms now accept paste and autofill. Deleted sessions stay deleted. Garmin syncing is more reliable. Empty chats no longer clutter your list. Fewer hangs when returning to the app on iPhone.

Ocean currents and wave period come to the weather map, and you can now compare speed across rides. Currents A new Currents layer shows global ocean circulation from Copernicus Marine. Scrub or play the timeline to explore currents worldwide. Premium riders get the full forecast. This layer shows ocean circulation, not tides. Wave period A new Wave period layer colours swell period in seconds, with a tap readout. Switching between layers keeps the hour you were viewing. Layers menu Explore map layers with previews of each. The updated menu leaves more room for the map. Weather map Current and wave-period particles are brighter, with longer trails. Forecast frames load ahead of playback for smoother animation. Compare rides Activity details → Analysis lets you compare speed across sections of rides. Your saved recordings remain unchanged. Overlay full-session speed to compare rides and the gear used. Spot pages Spot pages now show the ocean gradient, with more evenly spaced actions, a clearer title, and an updated rating. Recording Phone recordings keep running while you navigate the app. Swiping back no longer leaves the recording screen by accident. Rider badges Rider badges now appear beside names in messages and feeds. Today The Today screen now features a daytime ocean gradient and a night sky. Widgets and session maps Forecast widgets now include a loading state and a retry option. Session maps better frame your track, including long rides. Map colours are scaled so a single GPS spike doesn’t turn the whole ride red.
