Fill in the blank now works on vocabulary at every level. 752 example sentences were written for N5, N4, N3 and N2, so the Vocab button finally has questions to ask below N1. 230 vocabulary cards were showing a different word's meaning — 空 said "emptiness", 僕 said "servant". All repaired against the dictionary already in the app. A card whose back was nothing but its English now shows the word's other readings, when it has them — 的 is てき, and also まと, a target. And "Tap to reveal" now says "Show answer", in all ten languages. Easy no longer schedules a SHORTER interval than Good. On a card's second review the buttons read 1d / 1d / 6d / 3d — pressing the easier answer cost you three days. Easy is now always a step beyond Good, so it cannot fall behind it. Five grammar patterns wore an editor's note as part of their name — しか〜ない(再確認), "only, nothing but (reinforced at N2)" — which in a quiz marked the right answer for you. Removed, including from cards already on your device. Quiz now tells you what unlocks it instead of just refusing, and stops offering a length it can't serve. Home reads Study, Fill in the blank, Quiz — the order they unlock in. The greeting was rewritten. It always names something to do next, it stopped repeating a streak the screen already shows, and a big pile of reviews now suggests a first bite: "59 due. Start with 5 — the rest can wait." The question on a Quiz or Fill in the blank card is bigger, darker and sits above the card instead of under it. Swipe through the cards you have already studied. On a study card, swipe right to move on — the same as the Next button, which stays — and swipe left to go back and re-read one you have graded. Going back is read-only: your grade stands, and nothing is rescheduled. With audio on, whichever card you land on reads itself. Study just the cards you added, or just the ones you starred: filter the Library to Added or Starred and tap Study. It opens the usual study screen on Home with those cards loaded. A long session tops out at 40 cards, and the button says so before you tap it. The Library says how many cards you can actually read, not just how many exist: "12 of 1202 cards unlocked", with the unlock button beside it rather than below a thousand cards. And it's an iPad app now. Not a phone screen stretched wide — the cards stay a readable size and sit centred, the library grows from two columns to five, and the iPad turns to landscape while the iPhone stays upright.

  • v1.326d ago

Vocabulary library rounded out to nearly 9,400 words across all five levels, N5 through N1. Bug fixes and performance improvements. A few screenshot updates and small polish fixes throughout. Plus a round of performance and polish fixes throughout.

  • v1.11mo ago

Renamed the app to Nihongo Chat, with a new icon. Minor fixes and improvements.
